Hi, I ran Leg 9 out and back today and just thought that I should warn other runners of the danger of rabid animals allowed to roam free as you prepare to tackle the climb up from Home Farm Cottages.
As we ran past (heading West), we were chased by 3 dogs suffering from 'small man syndrome', which we just duly ignored and continued on. However, on the way back, one of the little runts (the chubby Jack Russell), jumped up and took a sizable chunk out of my girlfriend's leg. The owner of the dogs didn't care at all, he just calmly said 'Bad doggy' and carried on mowing his lawn, leaving the mutts free to terrorise everyone else that passed by. In fact one lady on her mountain bike was practically ushered down the restricted driveway instead of the SDW by these oversized rodents, to then get shouted at by the landowner for not sticking to the correct route.
We have reported it to the police, so hopefully, other SDW users will get a bit more peace in future, but like I said, I thought I should just warn everyone who is preparing for the relay.
Time to check that you up to date with your tetanus jabs I would say!

We only recc'ied the leg last week and had no such problems! Maybe it was just a bad day for rabid dogs!
